About Greg Ledder

Eternal optimist, singer songwriter for 23 years and owner of the Andromeda Print Emporium! Desperately trying to make it on my own as I have grown weary of the big online selling platforms gradually increasing their control on their sellers both financially and creatively. After many years of using Amazon I have come to realise that they simply do not care about my business or my customers - they are more interested in their control over me than the old fashioned customer service that I provide. What's worse is that they have the power to switch off my livelihood at the push of a button and they do so because they can, regardless of how happy my customers are with the service they receive. No one should have that kind of power over anyone so it's time to take back my life and go it alone as soon as I can - as scary as that may be. With my customer's help, hopefully I can do that! I love my work and I love providing the best service to my customers. Orders are delivered on time 99.9% of the time but inevitably things sometimes don't quite go to plan and an order may be delayed or lost somewhere along the line. While this is extremely frustrating it isn't the end of the world. As soon as I am made aware of a problem I always resolve it quickly and courteously as I really take it personally when a customer has spent their hard earned cash on one of my products and hasn't received it. We always get there in the end no matter what it takes! So, don't be shy if you have any questions or you have a problem with an order you placed just get in touch at: gledder@yahoo.co.uk and I'll get back to you within 12 hours - usually a lot quicker. Thank you for dropping by, Greg :-)

‘LIVING ON A WRECK’ Now Available!

Hey everyone!

It’s been a while I know…but I have been busy!

While writing is still underway on ‘Andromeda – The Story Of A Houseboat’ I decided to split the book into two parts with the first part being a shorter book entitled:

‘LIVING ON A WRECK’ The ‘Heads Up’ On Buying And Living On A Large Wooden  Houseboat Project.

Now available as PDF download at:

https://www.etsy.com/uk/listing/528393583/living-on-a-wreck-the-heads-up-on-buying?ref=shop_home_active_1

This book provides some hints on what to look for when buying a large wooden project boat to convert into a Houseboat and details some of the problems you may come up against before and after buying your boat.

If you are thinking about living on a Project boat I hope that this book will give you at least some insight into what to expect – though it is purely based on my own personal experience.

If you do decide to buy the book I would love to hear your feedback / comments on it – good or bad 🙂

Many thanks for dropping by,

Greg 🙂

Good News!

Yes indeed! I’ve manage to recover some of my photo’s of the restoration so the story will be more complete than I had feared it would be.

Still have no definite finish date as I’m writing when time allows but at least things are progressing!

Meanwhile, here’s an interesting shot of Andromeda in her early days as “Patricia Campbell and before the addition of the Aluminium shelter deck – and with a varnished hull! 🙂

Upward & Onward!

Hiya guy ‘n’ gals!

Hope you’re all well?

My apologies for the long interlude but at last I’m happy to say that writing of the book is now under way again so watch this space!

Sadly, I’m still missing many pictures of the project but to let that stop me would be a failure in itself so where there’s a will, there’s a way and it is indeed “upward and onward!”

More soon! 🙂

Thank you!!

Many thanks to all that have been following this post and my apologies for not updating this blog for some time.

Unfortunately, the laptop containing the book and all the relevant information and photo’s for the book was stolen some time ago and I hadn’t gotten around to backing everything up as I had been meaning to do for some time….

Hopefully all is not lost as I may still have the photo’s on my old PC back in the UK so I am just in the process of sorting this mess out!

Mainly my own fault for being stupid – a valuable lesson learned, the hard way!

I will update this blog as soon as I am back on track!

Thank you for hanging on in there!

Removing The Stern Roller…

The huge steel stern roller was now redundant and though the roller itself was in good condition the housings were badly corroded as you can see from the photo’s.

I removed the roller and housings with an angle grinder then cleaned up the steel top rail in readiness for the fitting of the new mooring bollards.

When these were welded in place I undercoated them and the top rail then finished with two topcoats of blue paint.

Job done!

Stern Deck Repair…

A few of the mahogany planks needed replacing on the stern deck which I did using treated 3″ x 2″ timber.

I didn’t take too much time making it look pretty as it would have eventually been overlaid with OSB and then fibre-glassed to provide a low maintenance & waterproof Deck.

From Galley To Utility Room…

The original Galley on Andromeda was very small so it was decided that it would be converted into a utility room and a new, much larger Galley would be made in the main accommodation area.

This short series of photo’s show the original galley as it was when we first went to view Andromeda (then ‘Patricia Campbell), then after I had stripped it out and finally during the installation of the utility room.

More soon!

Many thanks for taking a look,

Greg.

A Video Tour Of Andromeda!

I made this video to let potential buyers see Andromeda in all her glory – warts and all so that they could see just what a big project they would be undertaking should they decide to buy her.

Watching the video brings so many wonderful (and a few bitter-sweet) memories flooding back and I must admit that I still miss being on the boat but things change…it’s what makes life interesting isn’t it?

I hope you enjoy the tour despite my dodgy narration!

Please take the time to check out my previous posts on this blog – If you like what you read please subscribe.

‘Andromeda – The Story Of A Houseboat’ will be published in the not too distant future.

Many thanks for dropping by,
